1.  What is Villa Római ?

Villa Római is a  18th century old, privately owned Villa with apartment suites for rent. We provide romantic suites to discerning tourists and business travelers at an irresistibly low price. Our guests appreciate high quality North American type of accommodation without the big price tag.  They also prefer quietness and privacy  that we offer over a large hotel.

Our Villa is located on a wide, beautifully treed residential street. Our guests enter Villa Romai through wrought iron gates. Once inside, you stroll  through our picturesque  garden of old trees, fountains and wishing well.  You have entered  a peaceful retreat away  from the hustle and bustle of  downtown city life.

2.  Who Owns & Operates Villa Római?

Villa Római is owned and operated by a Hungarian/Canadian Pilot stationed in Budapest and his Canadian wife.  English and Hungarian are spoken.

3.  How does Villa Római differ from a Hotel, Motel or Pension?

Villa Romai provides unique, upscale rental suites. A large hotel will include in their base price many amenities or services that you do not use, but nevertheless still will pay for.  In order to keep our rental fees at such an irresistibly low price, we give you the flexibility to tailor any extra services or rentals  according to your lifestyle and budget.  It puts you in control of your holiday expenses?

4.  What  enticements do you offer at Villa Római?

FREE bottle of Champagne-chilled for your arrival - for guests staying 7 nights or longer! Free welcome drink to all guests.   In our  luxurious marble bathroom we provide bathrobes, hair blower, bath & beauty toiletries, iron and ironing board, voltage converters, luxurious bath towels.  Our kitchen is fully equipped  with fridge, stove, microwave oven, toaster, coffee maker and includes dishes, glassware, pots and pans. The Bedroom features custom made Wrought Iron Bed with full romantic canopy, luxurious bed linens, hardwood flooring, Satellite TV with English, Hungarian, German Movie Channel.  5. What are the Optional  Services or Features available  at Villa Római?

Optional features  include: Safety Deposit Box, Cell Phone, High Speed Internet, Air-conditioning, In-suite Washing and Drying Machines, gas barbeque  and Maid Service.

6.  Is there a telephone in Villa Római ?

 

Unlike any other hotel in the city  we provide you with a cell phone rental option. For a very modest daily rental fee we will purchase a phone card on your behalf and have your cell phone ready to go. This allows you to  directly control your telephone expenses. You can initiate or receive calls on the go to or from all over the World. Your loved ones  will have the comfort of being able to reach you while you are out and about  sightseeing .  You are not charged for receiving calls in Hungary on your cell phone.  At the end of your stay you simply return the cell phone to us. Our guests have found this cell phone rental option  flexible,  inexpensive  and easy to use.

7.  Where will my vehicle be parked ?

You may park inside the grated main garden. We offer free parking to our guests.   Visitor parking  for your guests is available in front of the Villa on the boulevard.

8.  Are there any stairs or elevators in Villa Római ?

We are wheel-chair accessible. There is an apartment  suite at garden level.

9.  Is there any food store close to Villa Római ?

Within  a  minute walk there is a newly renovated ABC  grocery store.  You may purchase freshly butchered  or  processed meats, a good selection of  fresh cheese, pastries, fruits and vegetables plus an assortment of breads and rolls. They also have an assortment of wines or liquors to choose from. Their hours of operation are 7:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday to Friday and 7:00 am to 2 pm Saturday and Sunday. On a small scale it has just about everything you would need to compliment your stay at Villa Romai.

10.  What has been done to ensure my security in Villa Római ?

Budapest is known to be a safe city for tourists to enjoy, however as an added safety feature for your peace of mind we have installed iron grates on all doors and windows, and special safety locks on the main entry doors. Smoke detectors and fire extinguishers  are standard equipment.

11.  I am at Ferihegy International Airport.   How do I get to Villa Római ?

Ferihegy Airport is 28 Km from the city center. We are located on the Buda side of the city in the famous Romai Part of  District 3.

To get to Villa Római chose one of the following methods of transportation:

1)  Budapest's Airport Minibus:  After your arrival, proceed to the Airport Minibus counter and request that you wish to book a ride on the minibus.  This service will collect you along with several other passengers and will drop each person off at their respective destinations.  The journey to will take a little longer than if hiring a private taxi cab, however, it is more economical for one person.  The mini bus service will cost about HUF 2100 per person for a one way fare.  It is slightly cheaper to purchase a return ticket.

2)  Hire a Taxi:  After your arrival, proceed to the public phone booth at the Arrivals Level of the airport and call a Taxi.  If you place a call and order your taxi, the fare to Villa Romai will be approximately HUF 4000.  The taxi is somewhat more expensive for one person but for two or more persons the fare would be less expensive than the Minibus and you would proceed directly to Villa Romai.  Ensure that you establish the fare before getting into the taxi. We suggest that you do not take the taxi service that are already stationed at the airport as they are very expensive for tourists.

3)  Rent A Car:   After your arrival, proceed to the car rental Kiosk.  The following car rental companies are based at the airport:  National Alamo, Sixt, Avis and Hertz. 

4)  Public Transportation:  After your arrival,  proceed to the blue colored Airport bus located outside at the Arrivals level of the airport.  The blue bus runs from 4:30 am until 11:45 pm every day at about 10-15 minute intervals. The fare is HUF 145 per person for each leg.   The blue airport bus will take you to the subway station at  Metro 3's Kobanya-Kispest end station where you will transfer to the subway system.  Proceed on the subway until you reach Arpad Hid Station, then transfer to Bus #34 which will take you within a one minute walk of Villa Romai.  Get off the bus at the corner of Emod Utca and  Dosa Utca.  Walk 1 short  block to Keve utca, turn left and proceed to our Villa.

12. Do I need a car while staying in Villa Római ?

Public transportation is excellent in our area. Everything in Budapest can be reached from our location by bus, local train (HEV) or subway, so it is not necessary to have a car. To get down town; by car it takes about 15 minutes: by train (HEV) to Batthany Ter about 15 minutes, by bus about 25 minutes.   However, if you are planning to visit other cities, it is more comfortable to have your own transportation.

13.  What entertainment is available nearby Villa Romai?

 

Villa Római is in the centre of a tourist area called the famous Római Part.  Within a few minutes walk you will find  the following: numerous restaurants, Casino, post office, church, public telephone booth, ABC Grocery Store, ice cream and pastry shop,  flower shop, banks with ATM machines, pharmacy, medical clinic, tennis, bowling, squash , fitness facilities,  bike, canoe, kayak and power boat  rentals.

 In the Summer ( between May and September) an open air complex, called The Borsodi Beach is open for visitors. They have several pools, sauna, open air fitness club, mini-golf, restaurants, and even a free Internet Cafe. You can bring your own picnic or purchase your food and drinks from one of the many booths on site.  Our guests have found Borsodi  Beach a great place to spend the day or just a few hours in the pools at the end of a long hot summer day of sightseeing in the city. Our Villa is about a 2 min walk away from The Borsodi  Beach.

Or walk down to the famous Danube River, just a short stroll from Villa Romai where you will find numerous fine restaurants, Hungarian eateries, pubs and live nightly entertainment. 

The ancient  and picturesque town of Szentendre is just a 20 minute train ride (HEV) away. 

 

You can also walk through the famous Roman Ruin archeological site and tour its museum.

14.  How far is Villa Római away from the famous spas in Budapest ?

There are numerous indoor spas in Budapest that are open all year around. They  have several hot pools of different temperature, wet and dry saunas and buffets or cafeterias on the premises. These spas are scattered around the city, but are generally within 30 minutes from our Villa by public transportation.  The prices are modest; 1900 Forint  for a whole day's stay.

Our favorite  is the huge bathing complex of Szechenyi Baths in City Park.  It offers three outdoor pools, some 10 indoor thermal pools, two saunas, massage and pedicure facilities as well as special hydrotherapy treatments for such ailments as rheumatism, arthritis, muscle strain, etc.   

15. What is the electrical voltage in Hungary ?

In Hungary the standard voltage system is 220V/60Hz with an European two-prong plug.  Electrical equipment of ll0V/60Hz requires the use of an adapter and/or voltage converter.

16.  What is the currency in Hungary?

The currency in Hungary is the Forint (HUF) or (Ft). You can change your money at any bank or change booth available all across the city though all Hotel prices are listed in EURO.
